About Healthy Pup Report
An independent publication that tests pet products on real dogs in real households, then publishes the results.
Who we are
Healthy Pup Report was founded in 2023 by a small group of reviewers and dog owners who were tired of pet product "reviews" that were really just affiliate placements. We test everything we cover. We publish what happened.
The publication is based in Portland, Oregon. We operate as an editorial team of four, plus a rotating roster of contributor households whose dogs participate in our testing pool.
The Reviews Lead
Daniel Pearce runs editorial testing at Healthy Pup Report and has reviewed companion-animal products since 2018. Before Healthy Pup Report he worked as a consumer-products reviewer in the outdoor and wellness categories. He is not a licensed veterinarian. Daniel lives in Portland with two dogs — Juno, a six-year-old border collie, and Bea, an eight-year-old basset hound — both of whom appear regularly in our editorial trials.
How we operate
Every product covered by Healthy Pup Report passes through our four-stage editorial test. Trial windows are 28 days minimum and most run six to eight weeks for products requiring sustained use. Test conditions, observations, and adverse events are logged in our editorial archive. Where appropriate, our consulting veterinarian provides clinical sign-off on observed changes.
How we are funded
Affiliate revenue, exclusively. We do not accept paid placements, sponsored content, or money in exchange for a positive verdict. The editorial scoring rubric is unaffected by commercial relationship status. We have published low scores on commission-paying products and high scores on products that pay us nothing.
